"No answers in the regular season": Jeff Marek makes his feelings known about Toronto Maple Leafs' 2024-25 campaign

Jeff Marek has made his feelings known about the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2024-25 campaign on Thursday’s episode of Leafs Morning Take.

While the Toronto Maple Leafs currently hold a middling 7-5-2 record after defeating the Boston Bruins 4-0 in their last game, Marek believes there are still no answers to be found for this team in the regular season.

"Every year there are some teams where, not the regular season doesn't mean anything, but there's no answers in the regular season," Marek stated.
"You know the regular season, we're going to cover it and we're going to have fun and it’s going to be interesting and there's going to be stories, the drama is going to rise and fall. It's going to be like this Leafs symphony that it is every year. But really all the answers are in the post season."

Marek went on to point out that no matter the individual accomplishments the Toronto Maple Leafs' stars achieve in the regular season, those achievements won't provide the answers the team is looking for.

"So, you know, Matthews snaps 65, okay. Mitch Marner has 110 point season, okay. William Nylander hits 40 (goals), okay. Like, I don't want to downplay any of that, but aren't all the answers just in the playoffs?" Marek remarked.

For the Toronto Maple Leafs team that has consistently underperformed in the playoffs despite regular season success, Marek's comments highlight the team's need to prove themselves in the playoffs.

Jeff Marek joins Toronto Maple Leafs's The Nation Network

Jeff Marek joined The Nation Network, the parent company of The Leafs Nation, as their newest hockey insider on Thursday. Marek will launch a new hockey podcast called The Sheet on Daily Faceoff.

Marek previously worked for Sportsnet but exited the network in July after over a decade on air. He hosted the popular 31 Thoughts podcast with Elliotte Friedman and was the co-host of Hockey Central at Noon.

Marek announced, via a statement:

"I’m thrilled to be joining a deep hockey bench at The Nation Network and Daily Faceoff where everybody eats, sleeps and breathes hockey 24/7."
"This group has emerged as growing leaders in the industry, providing full-service content for hockey fans. Daily Faceoff has a roster of established, credible veteran voices along with future impact players, and I can’t wait to get started with them."

Marek will make regular appearances on Leafs Morning Take, alongside hosts Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill. He will also contribute to shows across The Nation Network's platforms, providing his expert hockey analysis and insider perspective.
