P.K. Subban claims $7,774,400 Rangers D-man's "got more tools than Adam Fox" despite massive slump
Former NHL defenseman and hockey analyst P.K. Subban praised New York Rangers blueliner K'Andre Miller. Speaking on ESPN, Subban hailed the 24-year-old Miller as the Rangers' best defenseman and compared him to the Rangers’ alternate captain Adam Fox.
Miller is in his last year of the two-year, $7,774,400 deal signed with New York. He has scored a goal and provided an assist in 13 games this season while spending an average of 21:22 on the ice per game.
"K'Andre Miller got all the tools, he's got more tools than Adam Fox," Subban said.
"He should be their best defenseman right now and he's gotta play that way consistently every night. It's not good enough for him to just be okay. He gotta be a top player for them every night and he's better than that and he can be better than that...Consistency, it got be there."
Subban made it clear he wasn't calling out Miller but rather expressing his belief in the young defenseman's elite talent.
"I ain't picking on K'Andre Miller,I'm not even calling him out. This guy should be, he's a top defensmen in the National Hockey League. He can be that good, he has to be," he added.
The Rangers are coming off a 4-0 win against the Deroit Red Wings and are 9-3-1 for the season.
Fans react to P.K. Subban calling K'Andre Miller Rangers' best defenseman
P.K. Subban's comments on K'Andre Miller being the Rangers' best defenseman invited reactions from fans on social media.
One fan tweeted:
"Well said he’s gotta decide how good he wants to be. He’s got to dedicate himself to the game. Doesn’t seem to love it."
Another fan analyzed:
"He should be is what was said and that’s beyond debate pretty much. Fox is not a very athletic or powerful skater. Very smart and responsible but Miller has tools most NHL D-men would kill for and he’s wasting his youth not learning to utilize them."
Here are some fan reactions:
"I went back to game highlights from 2022 and man K'Andre was a force. I don't know what happened," one fan wrote.
"Got the tools but he’s lazy," another fan wrote.
"K’Andre can absolutely be a superstar and a game changer for this team. He needs a solid line mate that compliments his potential style. The question is, who will that be?" a user commented.
"Defensive liability. Period," another user wrote.
The debate continues as fans eagerly watch Miller's performance this season.
Next, New York will face the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.
