PK Subban faces backlash over Trump video and Jack Eichel

"PK a Trump supporter?": NHL fans left questioning P.K. Subban's political allegiance after cryptic social media post

NHL fans are questioning former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban's political views after his recent social media post. The controversy started when Jack Eichel, a forward for the Vegas Golden Knights, was seen at a MAGA rally in Las Vegas. A social media user shared a photo of Eichel at the rally, which led to a debate about his political stance.

The situation grew more complex on Sunday when Subban posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), showing a viral meme of former U.S. President and presidential candidate Donald Trump. Subban's caption read:

"All in on Jack Eichel! Big season! Over 100 pts??"

Eichel had a strong 2018-19 season with 82 points. He might score even more this year if Vegas trades for more talent. P.K. Subban's post left fans questioning his political views.

"PK a Trump supporter?? Never would of thunk," one fan said.
"First time in my life I like PK can’t even believe I’m saying this," another fan commented.
"Literally any respect I’ve had for you is gone. Disappointing is an understatement," one X user wrote.

Take a look at some more reactions from NHL fans on X.

"If he's dumb as f**k as the person in your video I don't see him making it past November 5th," a fan posted.
"I hope so, just because he’s getting hate for attending a political rally. People are insane. Never been a bigger fan of his until now," a fan tweeted.
"Weird that as a black man you support such a blatant racist. Good take though PK, good take bud," another fan commented.

P.K. Subban believes Buffalo Sabres are stronger with new veterans

P.K. Subban reflected on Lindy Ruff’s coaching evolution as he returned to the Buffalo Sabres. In an interview, Subban recalled facing Ruff's strong Buffalo teams early in his career and noted Ruff’s shift to a more detailed approach with the New Jersey Devils.

“He wanted to push the envelope,” Subban said (via NHL.com on Sept. 9). “He wanted his skilled players to take chances and make plays. He didn’t want guys to be out there gripping the sticks. He wanted guys to play loose and to play to their strengths.”

Ruff led New Jersey to a playoff spot and a record 112 points in the 2022-23 season. Now back with the Sabres, Subban expects Ruff’s mix of old-school toughness and modern coaching to build a strong team culture.

Ruff underlined self-accountability and player-driven standards in his April press conference. P.K. Subban believes the Sabres are now better positioned for success with the addition of new veteran players.
