"Rempe is a menace. In a good way": NHL fans react as Matt Rempe scores his first goal of the season in Rangers shutout win

Matt Rempe scored his first goal of the season in the New York Rangers’ 5-0 win over the Ottawa Senators. The game took place at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Rempe scored at 3:34 of the third period, making it 3-0 for the Rangers. He was assisted by Adam Edstrom and Sam Carrick.

This goal gives Rempe two points this season. The Rangers now lead the season series 2-0 against the Senators.

Fans reacted to the goal after Ryan Mead, host of the Blueshirts Breakaway podcast, shared the news on X.

“Rempe is a menace. In a good way. I don’t know how people don’t see it,” one fan said.
“Guy’s been playing good. Casuals love to jump on any little thing he does wrong,” said another fan defending his performance.
"4th line needs to spend some extra time after practice teaching Mika how to take a breakaway," one fan reacted.

After struggling earlier in the season, the Rangers have finally picked up pace.

Matt Rempe and the Rangers won, building on a late first-period lead

The New York Rangers defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-0 at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday. Their $92M goalie, Igor Shesterkin, made 20 saves for his second straight shutout, extending his streak to 164:03.

Alexis Lafreniere opened the scoring with 1:12 left in the first period, backhanding a rebound off Adam Fox’s shot. The Rangers had an earlier goal overturned for offside.

Arthur Kaliyev made it 2-0 at 1:50 of the second period, capitalizing on a blocked shot. He had another goal overturned due to offside, and Ottawa replaced goalie Leevi Merilainen with Anton Forsberg.

Matt Rempe scored at the start of the third period, roofing a backhander off Adam Edstrom’s feed. Artemi Panarin added a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 9:01, and Will Cuylle scored another power-play goal 56 seconds later to seal the victory. The Rangers extended their point streak to nine games (6-0-3).

Matt Rempe and the Rangers will face the Philadelphia Flyers next on Thursday.
