NHL fans react after the Columbus Blue Jackets named Rick Nash director of hockey operations. Nash was selected first overall in the 2002 NHL draft by Columbus.
After leaving the NHL in 2019 due to a concussion, he moved into the front office role, hired by the Blue Jackets in June 2019 as a special assistant to the general manager. He was promoted to the club's director of player development in June 2021.

Nash was the general manager for Team Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Championships in Czechia.
