"They're not human": Bedard, Sedin, Hughes, and other NHL stars take up Vancouver's infamous Grouse Grind challenge

NHL star Connor Bedard climbed the Grouse Grind in North Vancouver on Sept. 8. He hiked with former NHL player Paul Bissonnette. Bedard set a new record of 39 minutes for the hike.

"6am Sunday morning Grouse Grind with the NHL’s reigning Calder winner. Bedard is a machine. 37 minute grind time. Now he’s going to skate. The @nhl is in good hands folks," Bissonnette tweeted for Bedard.

The Grouse Grind is a tough trail. It is 1.55 miles long and has 2,624 feet of elevation gain. The hike has 2,830 steep steps.

"I go pretty early if I do it, because it's cooler and not as busy," Bedard said in Vegas to the reporters, "It becomes a kind of tourist thing, which is crazy. You see people up there in jeans and a jacket, slowly going up."

Macklin Celebrini, another player, also climbed the Grind. He finished in 35 minutes and said it was good training.

"For me, it's a great training tool," Celebrini said per The Hockey News, "I do it at the end of training days and stuff. It's good conditioning. It's hard on the legs, so I feel it's a good tool for me."

Vancouver Canucks posted a video on X that featured Canuck's players attempting the Grouse Grind. Aiden Celebrini finished first among Canucks prospects but couldn't beat Daniel and Henrik Sedin.

The Sedin twins, famous for their fitness, reportedly completed the hike in about 30 minutes. Younger players admire their speed.

"Actually behind the Sedins, They are not human," Aiden said post climibing the Grind.

Canucks Tom Willander, Wawyer Myno, Callum Hughes, Melvin Fernstrom, Ty Mueller, Joe Arntsen, Riley Patterson, Anthony Romani, Ty Young, and Aku Koskenvuo also participated.
