Toronto Maple Leafs HC Craig Berube makes feelings known about Nick Robertson

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Craig Berube today talked about young player Nick Robertson. He spoke about the qualities of Robertson that he witnessed in training camp.

"Robertson, I knew he was skilled, fast, could shoot," Berube said. "But what surprised me about him is his work ethic and his competitiveness have been excellent. That's what is going to make him a real good player in this league."

Currently, Robertson has an upper-body injury and will not play against Detroit. He did practice in the morning and might be ready for the season opener against the Montreal Canadiens on October 9.

Last season, Robertson scored 14 goals and had 27 points in 56 games. He aims to do better this year. In a recent game against the Detroit Red Wings, he scored two goals in a 2-0 win. This strong performance helps him secure a spot for the opening night.

Berube praised Robertson for his offense and defense. He noted that Robertson is effective in penalty killing.

"He [Robertson] has been great," Berube said. "He has been really good defensively, killing penalties and also producing offensively with goals. The speed is excellent, and he has a great shot. He is using skill and his feet really well. Again, he is responsible defensively, which is great to see."

In the preseason, Nick Robertson has been impressive, and the team hopes that he will continue to do so in the regular season. The Maple Leafs will start their season against the Canadiens at Centre Bell, Montreal. The game will start at 7:00 PM EDT and will be broadcast on SN and TVAS.

Maple Leafs forward Nick Robertson is positive for the upcoming 2024-25 NHL season

Nick Robertson is still optimistic despite not playing in the last preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings.

"It means a lot. I was actually talking to my parents about it. They're going to come up for it," Robertson said on Saturday, per The Hockey News.

Robertson is focused on balancing hard work with relaxation. He believes this helps him perform better. As he explained:

“Being calm lets you anticipate better and conserve energy.”

In his NHL career, Nick Robertson has played 87 games. He has scored 17 goals and made 17 assists, totaling 34 points. With a new coach in the form of Berube, he hopes this will be his best season yet.
