WATCH: Flyers mascot Gritty shows off juggling skills during barbeque cookout with Jamie Drysdale and Cam York

Hockey fans were treated to a fun juggling act at a barbecue hosted by Flyers mascot Gritty. B/R Open Ice shared the event's video on X (formerly Twitter), featuring Flyers players Jamie Drysdale and Cam York. In the video, Gritty, the seven-foot-tall orange mascot with funny googly eyes, showed off his juggling skills.

Drysdale and York were comfortably seated and were seen to be enjoying the show. Gritty’s juggling was concluded with him catching the pancake in his mouth, which amused the players.

It started on Sep. 24, 2018, and is associated with funny dancing and high fives. Designed by Brian Allen and David Raymond, Gritty is still beloved by fans during Philadelphia games, both home and away.

Flyers extend Travis Konecny with 8-year contract worth $8.75M per year

On Jul. 25, the Philadelphia Flyers offered forward Travis Konecny an eight-year contract extension. Starting in the 2025-26 season, the deal is worth $8.75 million annually.

General manager Daniel Brière pointed out Konecny's key role in the team's future.

"Travis Konecny is an integral part of the fabric of our team and we are thrilled to have him under contract for the long-term," Briere said (via NHL.com). "Travis has grown into a significant leader on our team and he truly embodies what it means to be a Flyer...

Konecny is excited about the new contract. He appreciates the support from teammates, staff, and fans and looks forward to the upcoming season in Philadelphia.

“I couldn’t be happier to sign again with the Flyers,” Konecny said. “There’s such a bright and exciting future with this team and I can’t wait to be a part of it for the next nine years and see what we will accomplish."
"I can’t thank all my teammates and staff members enough because this opportunity wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of them along the way. I can’t wait to get back to Philly in front of the best fans in the world and I look forward to another great season."

Last season, Konecny led Philadelphia with 68 points and was a top performer in shorthanded goals. He reached milestones such as his 500th NHL game and 400th NHL point.

Chuck Fletcher joins Devils as senior advisor after Flyers stint

Chuck Fletcher is joining the New Jersey Devils as a senior advisor to manager Tom Fitzgerald. Fletcher previously worked with the Devils in 2018-19. He later became the Flyers' manager but was fired in March 2023.

His time with the Philadelphia included a playoff series win in 2019-20, but the team faced struggles afterward, leading to a four-year playoff drought. The Devils will play the Flyers four times this season, including three games in January.
