Sebastian Aho is a Finnish professional ice hockey player and alternate captain for the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL as of 2025. Born on July 26, 1997, he began his professional career with Oulun Kärpät in Finland's SM-liiga during the 2013-14 season. Aho gained attention for his contribution to Kärpät's 2015 championship where he scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 7.

Drafted 35th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft by the Hurricanes, Aho made his NHL debut during the 2016-17 season. Over his career, he has earned several awards, including appearances in the NHL All-Star Game (2019, 2022). Additionally, he was named the best forward at the 2018 IIHF World Championships.

Sebastian Aho has played his entire NHL career with the Carolina Hurricanes since his debut in the 2016–17 season. After being drafted 35th overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he established himself as a crucial player for the Hurricanes. In his rookie season, he scored his first NHL goal on November 12, 2016, recording his first hat-trick on January 31, 2017, and becoming the youngest player in Hurricanes/Whalers franchise history to achieve the feat.

During the 2018-2019 season, Aho created history again by breaking Ron Francis' record for the longest season-opening point streak for the Hurricanes, recording points in 12 consecutive games. The Hurricanes reached the playoffs for the first time that season in a decade where he helped the team with five goals and seven assists.

Due to his impact on the team, Aho earned multiple NHL All-Star Game selections in 2019 and 2022. In 2023, Aho signed a lucrative eight-year $78 million extension contract with the Hurricanes. Sebastian Aho has recorded eight career hat-tricks in the NHL as of the 2023-2024 season.
