Top 5 Toronto Maple Leafs games to watch out for during 2024-25 NHL season

The 2024-25 NHL schedule has been released and many fans have important games circled on their calendar. The Toronto Maple Leafs will have several highly-anticipated games.

Toronto also has marquee games, like when they play an original six team, or the Ottawa Senators for the Battle of Ontario. But, here are the top five games to watch out for.

Top 5 Toronto Maple Leafs games to watch out for during 2024-25 NHL season

#1, New Jersey Devils, Oct. 10

In the second game of the season, the Toronto Maple Leafs go on the road to play the New Jersey Devils in their home opener. Although New Jersey is not a rival of Toronto, the games are more intriguing this year.

The Maple Leafs fired Sheldon Kefee after another early playoff exit and he was hired by New Jersey. It will be the first time Keefe gets to coach against his former team and many fans will be looking forward to that.

#2, Pittsburgh Penguins, Oct. 12

Just two days after the Maple Leafs play New Jersey, they come home for their home opener on Saturday, Oct. 12 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The home opener is one of the most anticipated games anyway, but this game has some more to it due to Kyle Dubas being the GM of the Penguins.

Dubas is the former Maple Leafs GM so fans also pay attention to this game.

#3, Boston Bruins, Oct. 26

The Toronto Maple Leafs were eliminated by the Boston Bruins in the first round of last year's playoff and this serves as the first meeting since then.

The game is also on Saturday night which adds to the importance of the game, and although it is early on in the season, it is a good litmus test for the Maple Leafs to see how they play against the team who eliminated them.

#4, Florida Panthers, Nov. 27

The Florida Panthers are the reigning Stanley Cup champions and this is the first time Toronto gets to play them.

Playing the defending champions is always a game that people get excited for as it's a good opportunity to see how your team fares against the one that just won it all.

Toronto also has to go on the road for this game, which makes it that much harder.

#5, Utah, March 10

A Monday night game in March usually isn't important but this one is for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

March 10 is the first time Toronto will go on the road to play in Utah who relocated from Arizona this offseason.
