NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship 2024 MVP Jess Mruzik goes pro, shares major announcement
A few days after being named the 2024 NCAA Tournament MVP, Jess Mruzik has signed with LOVB Houston. The Penn State women's volleyball outside hitter played a significant role in helping her team win the National Championship.
Mruzik has been with Penn State for two years and has left her mark on the team by delivering staunch performances. She has a total of 1,000 kills here and became the AVCA First-Team All-American as a fifth-year senior. In her five-year college career, of which three she had spent in Michigan, the player has 1192 digs and 261 blocks.
The athlete has entered a new phase by becoming the most outstanding player of the 2024 NCAA Championship. Her team gained victory over Louisville with a score of 3-1 (25-23, 32-34, 25-20, 25-17), and this was their eighth NCAA title. The Lions gained the upper hand in the match with the help of Jess Mruzik's 29 kills. In the Final Four, she took a total of 143 swings in two matches and attained 55 kills.
Following this performance, she was named the MVP of the 2024 NCAA tournament, and just a day later, she signed with LOVB Houston. The officials took to their X account to welcome her to the team.

Jess Mruzik opens up about winning the NCAA Championship before moving to LOVB Houston
After delivering an epic match, Jess Mruzik opened up about winning the NCAA Championship and spoke about what it is to be a part of Penn State. The 22-year-old spoke about the 'ultimate goal' and appreciated her coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley, calling her an 'inspiration.' She said (as quoted by The Athletic):
“This is like a dream come true. But when you come to Penn State, you’re a Penn Stater for life. And the ultimate goal is winning a national championship."
Talking about her coach, she added:
“She’s been an inspiration to us, and she’s helped us believe that we can accomplish what we just accomplished. She teaches us so much every single day. But the biggest thing I’m taking away from this season is you can do anything. You can do anything you set your mind to. If you believe it, it’ll happen.”
She further added:
"I loved the girls. I loved the program. I loved the culture. And I obviously love Katie and the staff. So when I committed to Penn State is when I knew we could do this.”
The LOVB Houston are gearing up to begin their season on January 9 when they host Austin at the Fort Bend County Epicenter.
