3 Olympic wrestlers who can win the Olympic gold medal for USA at Paris Olympics:
#3) Dominique Parrish [Freestyle Wrestling - 53 kg]
The 27-year-old grappler from Scotts Valley, California, is a strong favorite for the Olympic gold medal. Dominique Parrish had won the World Championships in 2022, as well a gold medal at the Pan American Championships in 2022.
Dominique Parrish has just two wrestlers to worry about : Akari Fujinami of Japan, who is the current world champion in her category, and Antim Panghal of India, who is not only the junior world champion, but also the bronze medalist at the Senior World Championships held last year. Antim Panghal had incidentally upset Parrish in her route to a historic bronze medal on debut.
# 2) Kyle Snyder [Freestyle Wrestling - 97kg]
This 28-year-old wrestler from Woodbine, Maryland, is not only the youngest world champion in his category, but also one of the few American wrestlers to have won successive Olympic medals.
After winning a historic gold medal at Rio Olympics, Kyle Snyder was all set for a second successive gold medal, when he lost to Abdulrashid Sadulaev of Russia by just three points in the final. However Sadulaev will not be available at Paris Olympics, due to the sanctions imposed on Russia and Belarussia by IOC.
So Kyle Snyder has a golden opportunity to create history, with only the defending world champion Akhmed Tazhudinov of Bahrain standing in his way. If he manages to win at the Paris Olympics, Kyle Snyder will only be the fourth American overall to win two Olympic gold medals in wrestling.
#1) Kyle Dake [Freestyle Wrestling - 74 kg]
Kyle Dake is just not any other wrestler. This 33-year-old grappler from Ithaca, New York, is one of the most decorated wrestlers of his category, a few medals behind his fellow competitor, Jordan Burroughs. Kyle Dake had also won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics held in 2021, and would like nothing better than to change the color of his medal at Paris Olympics 2024.
Kyle Dake has never returned without a medal from the World Wrestling Championships since 2018, winning almost every edition with the exception of 2023, where he lost on points basis to Russian wrestler Zaurbek Sidakov of Russia. However, due to the IOC sanctions, even Sidakov wouldn't be able to take part at Paris Olympics, and Kyle Dake has a better shot at creating history.
