All the athletes who qualified for the men's 400m hurdles semifinal at Paris Olympics 2024 ft. Karsten Warholm, Rai Benjamin
Karsten Warholm, Rai Benjamin, Alison Dos Santos, Clement Ducos, Roshawn Clark, and Malik James-King were some of the top athletes who qualified for the semi-final of the men's 400m hurdles at the Paris Olympics. Round 1 of the men's 400m hurdles featured five heats with some of the best performers of 2024 competing in the quest to qualify for the semi-final round.
According to the qualification rules, the top three finishers in each heat along with the next three fastest athletes will gain automatic qualifications for the semi-finals, whereas all the other athletes will receive one more opportunity to qualify by competing in the repechage round. Only the athletes who did not start or finish the race or were disqualified are ineligible to compete in the repechage round.
The world record holder and defending champion Karsten Warholm was the fastest qualifier in the heats and clocked 47.57s to ease his way into the semi-final. Clement Ducos was the second-fastest qualifier after clocking 47.69s right behind Warholm in heat no 2. Jamaican athlete Roshawn Clark was the third fastest qualifier and clocked 48.17s.
Meanwhile, USA's Rai Benjamin, who is one of the top prospects for the podium, breezed through the heats with a time of 48.82s and was the 16th fastest qualifier overall. Brazilian athlete Alison Dos Santos clocked 48.75s to also gain automatic qualification for the finals after placing third in his heat.
The semi-finals of the men's 400m hurdles will be held on August 7, 2024, at 1:35 pm ET.

The remaining eligible athletes will compete in the Repechage round, divided into three heats, and the first two finishers in each heat there will advance to the semi-final. The Repechage round is scheduled for August 6, 2024, at 6:00 am ET.
