Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband Hunter reminisce about their initial conversations
Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall met during a high school track meet in February 2017 in Pocatello, Idaho. In an interview with GQSports.com, remembering the meet, Davis-Woodhall recalled their first conversation when she approached him for a hug.
"I said, ‘I don't know why I have to do this, but I have to hug you," the Olympian recalled.
A few days later one of Woodhall's tweets caught the long jumper's attention and she slid into his DM.
“She slid in, and was like, ‘What are you still doing awake?’ And I was like, ‘All right, game on,’" Woodhall said.
“He [said], ‘Waiting for you to text me,’ or something like that," Tara remembered.
To which Woodhall accepted saying:
“It was very high-school-esque."
The Paralympian and Olympian became the first couple to have clinched gold medals in their respective events at the same edition of the Games. While Davis-Woodhall secured her first Olympic medal long jump event, Hunter bagged a gold in the 400m event.
