B.A.A. Half Marathon 2024: Schedule, order of events, prize money and more

The B.A.A. Half Marathon 2024 is set to be held on Sunday, November 10 in the heart of Boston. This is a World Athletics label road race event and is the fourth road race event organized by the non-profit organization, B.A.A. (Boston Athletics Association).

Registration for this half marathon started a few months back in July and the cost for the same was 100 USD. The organizers of the event had allowed 9000 participants for the 2024 edition.

The half-marathon event is sponsored by "Dana-Farber Cancer Institute" and "The Jimmy Fund," who are also the fundraising partners of the event. Other sponsors of the event include Bank of America, Maurten, and DICK's Sporting Goods.

The total distance of the B.A.A. Half Marathon is around 13.1 miles, exactly half of Boston Marathon's course distance (26.2 miles). The race will start at the White Stadium in Franklin Park in Boston and will take the competing athletes through various landmarks such as Willow Pond, Emerald Necklace, Olmsted Park, and Leverett Pond.

The organizers have also included numerous utilities along the course of the race. Drinking water will be available after mile 2 of the course after every second mile. Other aqua substances such as Gatorade will be placed on the 6th, 9th, and 11.1 miles. Doctors and other personnel will also be present at various points of the course for the runners.

Men's wheelchair event- 8 AM ET
Women's wheelchair race- 8 AM ET
Men's professional half-marathon event- 8:03 AM ET
Women's professional half-marathon event- 8:05 AM ET
Para athletes event- 8:05 AM ET
Duo teams race- 8:05 AM ET
The first wave starts- 8:07 AM ET

B.A.A. Half Marathon 2024: Prize Money

The half-marathon event offers substantial prize money for the winners: 15,000 USD for the open competitions, and 4000 USD, and 400 USD for the wheelchair and masters divisions respectively.

Besides, an additional 10,000 USD will be awarded to the participant that can break the open field record. For the wheelchair and para-athlete fields, the additional sum amounts to 1200 USD and 400 USD respectively. All the participants will also receive an ADIDAS (apparel sponsor) shirt from the event organizers.
