Breaking at Paris Olympics: All about the rules, athletes competing and where to watch the sport making its debut at the quadrennial games
As the 14th day of the Paris Olympics starts in the French capital, the stage is all set for the debut of a new sport in the Olympic roster - Breaking. The event will take place at the La Concorde and will start around 4:00 PM local time.
The competition will kick off with the B-girls event on Friday and will be followed up with the B-boys event on Saturday. The finals of the B-girls and B-boys will be held on August 10 and August 11, respectively.

Breaking at Paris Olympics: Rules and Regulations
The breakdancers in the event will go head-to-head against one another in the round-robin stage. During the battle one of the contestants will have to go first as per the random draw method and the other contestant will have to perform second. The battles will consist of two rounds in the round-robin stage and three rounds in the knockouts.
The performances of the breakdancers will be evaluated by a panel of nine judges. The panel will tabulate the marks of the performers based on their fluency, creativity variation in the moves they show during their performance.

Thirty-two breakdancers in total (16 B-boys and 16 B-girls) will be gracing the Olympic floor in the round-robin stage of the competition. For the B-girls event, there will be a pre-qualifier round through which the 16th participant will be decided.
The 16th and 17th seed participants in the competition will go head-to-head against each other and the winner will qualify for the round-robin as the 16th contestant.
Among the already qualified participants in the B-girls event, the 2023 Pan American Games gold medalist, Sunny Choi will be one of the top breakdancers to watch out for in the event. Besides, the 2022 Asian Games gold medalist from China, Liu Qingyi will also grace the event from the Group A of the competition.
Other top contenders to watch out for in the B-Girls event include Portugal's Vanessa Marina, USA's Logan Edra, and Ayumi Fukushima from Japan.
In the B-boys event, United States' breakdancer, Victor Montalvo will be one of the top contestants to keep an eye on. He is the 2023 World Champion in the event and has also competed in various other top international tournaments such as World Games.
Other athletes competing in the B-Boys event include Japan's Shigeyuki Nakarai, Australia's Jeff Dunne, Canada's Phil Wizard, and the US's Jeffrey Louis.
