Brussels Diamond League Final-Day 1 Full Results: Jamaica's Ackeem Blake stages epic upset in men's 100m, Jakob Ingebrigtsen dominates 1500m

Day 1 of the Diamond League Final in Brussels saw exhilarating action unfold on a wet track with several upsets across the different track and field events. But the biggest upsets occurred in the 100m as Jamaica's Ackeem Blake secured a surprise victory over American favorites, while Sha'Carri Richardson ran her slowest time since 2022.

Blake ran a controlled 9.93s and was the only sprinter to breach the 10s mark at the Diamond League Final as USA's Christian Coleman and Fred Kerley settled for second and third positions in 10.00 and 10.01 respectively. Blake competed at the Paris Olympics 2024 but didn't win any medals.

In the women's 100m at the 2024 Diamond League Final, Julien Alfred continued her dominance as she stormed to victory in 10.88s while second and third places were secured by Dina Asher-Smith and Marie Josee Ta Lou-Smith in 10.92s and 11.05s. Sha'Carri Richardson was yet again slow out of the blocks and despite pushing till the 50-60m mark, the world champion gave up in the last part, clocking 11.23s, her slowest time since September 2022.
