Gabby Thomas issues hilarious response to majority of fans wanting her and Ilona Maher run at a marathon

Gabby Thomas shared an amusing response this week to fans expressing a desire to witness her and Ilona Maher run at a marathon. Thomas was the Grand Marshal for the NYC Marathon on November 3.

Thomas and Maher attended the New York City Marathon as Grand Marshal and confidence coach of the runners, respectively. After fulfilling the special role at this event, the American sprinter shared a poll on Instagram asking fans whether both athletes should run a marathon.

"Should @ilonamaher and I run a marathon?"

The poll's options for answers read:

"Heck Yes" or "Stick to your sports."

In this poll, 91% of fans voted for "Heck Yes."

Commenting on the fans' response, Thomas wrote on her Instagram story:

"Yikes @ilonamaher maybe 2028??😭"

Before receiving the fans' response, the rugby player shared Thomas' story on her Instagram, and added her take:

"That would be terrible but also hilarious"

Gabby Thomas and Maher had a successful campaign during the Paris Olympics. The sprinter won three golds, in the 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relay, while the rugby player helped the USA women's rugby team win bronze. Currently, both athletes are enjoying their off-seasons and have been indulging themselves in various social events. While Thomas has attended a few fashion shows, Maher has been part of "Dancing With the Stars," season 33.

Gabby Thomas expressed her feelings about the opportunity of being honored as the Grand Marshal for this year's New York City Marathon. She shared a bunch of pictures on her Instagram handle and penned a heartfelt note on her caption, exuding gratitude for the opportunity, and also said that she was proud of all the participants.

"Thank you @newbalance and @nyrr for granting me the opportunity of being Grand marshal for this year’s @nycmarathon 💙 Running is so much more than just a sport- it taught me about discipline, resilience, and finding joy in pushing limits.
"This marathon brings people together from all backgrounds and communities through the transformative power of running, and I was able to witness that today👏🏽 So proud of everyone who participated!!"

Gabby Thomas concluded her 2024 season after competing at the Athlos NYC meet in the 200m, where she secured a second-place finish behind Brittany Brown.
