"Greatest moment of my life": Stephen Nedoroscik receives heartfelt reply from author John Green after "insane" interaction revelation
Stephen Nedoroscik recently received a touching message from John Green. It happened after the American gymnast shared details about his "insane" interaction with 'The Fault in Our Stars'-famed author.
Nedoroscik, the Pommel Horse specialist, played a key role in helping the US men's gymnastics team secure bronze in the team final at the Paris Olympics, marking their first medal at the quadrennial event in 16 years.
The 25-year-old came under the spotlight again on Saturday, August 3, by leading his country to another bronze medal glory in the Pommel Horse final (15.300). This is the only individual medal the men’s team will take home from Paris. Ireland’s Rhys McClenaghan won gold and Kazakhstan’s Nariman Kurbanov took silver with scores of 15.533 and 15.433, respectively.
Following his exploits at the French capital, Stephen Nedoroscik spoke with the media and was asked about the most famous person he had interacted with on social media lately. He mentioned John Green’s tweet about him, adding:
"That was insane."
Green later took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his thoughts on the American's comments, writing:
"THIS IS THE GREATEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE. LOVE YOU @GymnastSteve!"
Notably, on July 30, Green posted on his X account about Nedoroscik’s "nerd credentials," sharing a screenshot of the latter's Instagram story where he proudly showcased solving a Rubik’s Cube in under 10 seconds.
"To truly understand Stephen Nedoroscik's nerd credentials, you need to know that he is in Paris for the Olympics and posting to his insta story about solving a Rubik's Cube in under 10 seconds," the veteran author wrote.
Stephen Nedoroscik reveals rituals he followed during Paris Olympics 2024 including solving Rubik's Cube
Stephen Nedoroscik revealed to the media that he followed certain rituals before each performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
His routine included solving a Rubik's Cube in under 10 seconds before the team final and having exactly six pieces of green apple with a chocolate muffin for breakfast. He continued these practices up to the day he secured the second bronze medal for his country in the Pommel Horse final.
"After I solved it (Rubik's Cube) under 10 seconds before four-team finals, solving it again under 10 seconds for this competition or today, I was like, all right, we got this," Nedoroscik said.
"We just continued to do the same ritual over and over again. I had six pieces of green apple in the morning with a chocolate muffin. That was my breakfast. I just kept everything exactly the same," he added.
The US gymnastics team, including both men and women, has won a total of seven medals at the Summer Games this year so far.
The women’s team has been particularly impressive, claiming gold in the team final. Simone Biles earned gold in the all-around, with Suni Lee finishing in third. The 27-year-old also triumphed in the vault with Jade Carey taking a bronze in the same event.
