Sha'Carri Richardson has received encouraging words from Cardi B ahead of the Paris Olympics, with track and field action scheduled to begin on August 1. Richardson and Cardi B shared an emotional moment as they had a light chat ahead of the Olympics.
Sha'Carri Richardson will be making her Olympic debut after missing out on the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. She faced a month-long suspension after testing positive for THC, a component of marijuana.
After making the cut for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Cardi B admitted that the world champion inspires her through her resilient nature of not giving up. The American rapper added that she felt warm around Richardson and that she spreads positive energy all around her.
"I feel like, inspired and I feel like so warm, the I’m feeling it all. You are really special," Cardi B in a video shared by Richardson on her Instagram.
A real testimony of resilience, Sha'Carri Richardson did not give up on her career as she bounced back in 2023 to take the world title in the women’s 100m at the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Sha'Carri Richardson won a bronze medal in the women’s 200m and anchored the women’s 4x100m relay team to victory.
This season, she punched her ticket to the Olympic Games, clocking a stunning world-leading time of 10.71 seconds to win the final. She started her campaign with a 10.88 seconds win in the preliminaries before winning the semifinal in 10.86.
Sha'Carri Richardson has been unbeaten in the women’s 100m, after opening her season at the Prefontaine Classic, the Diamond League Meeting in Eugene.
The 24-year-old narrated that her journey to Olympic qualification has not been easy and she was glad to have achieved the feat of representing the U.S. at the Olympic Games.
"You haven’t seen my journey, you can literally take moments of your life and relate it to my journey, we represent…," Richardson said.

Sha'Carri Richardson is in the hunt for her first 100m gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games and she is aware of the tough challenge that awaits her.
Richardson explained that the race is like her favorite board game, chess. Richardson noted that every moment she steps on the track, she has to ensure she has improved ahead of the Olympics.
The American sprint queen noted that the Olympics is the biggest stage an athlete can compete in and she needs to have worked on every aspect before stepping on the purple track at the Stade de France.
"It’s like chess. Every move you make is leading to checkmate. So, the Olympics, okay, that’s checkmate, that’s the moment an athlete dreams about," Richardson told Vogue.
"But every race I have leading up to that matters too, that’s my opportunity to grow, so by the time I’m on the track in Paris, I know I’ve done my trial and error," she added.
At the Olympic Games, Richardson will be joined by compatriots Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry.
The American trio will face competition from the Jamaican duo of Shericka Jackson and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce with Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred also a threat to the throne.
