"I would just ask her to forgive me" - Simone Biles biological mother Shanon Biles wants to reunite with daughter following Paris Olympics 2024
Simone Biles’ biological mother, Shannon Biles, wishes to apologize to Simone following her triumphant performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Simone concluded her Olympic journey on a remarkable note, securing three gold medals and one silver.
After withdrawing from several events at the Tokyo Olympics due to 'twisties', Simone Biles made a strong comeback at the Paris Olympics, winning two individual gold medals in the women’s all-around and vault and helping her team secure a gold in the team all-around. Additionally, she also earned a silver medal in the women’s floor exercise.
Following her impressive Olympic campaign, Simone’s biological mother, Shanon Biles, was interviewed by DailyMail.com. In the interview, Shanon expressed how much she misses Simone, adding that she wants to reconcile with the seven-time Olympic gold medalist.
“I would like to make amends with Simone personally. I’m just waiting for her and Adria [Biles]. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward,” she said.
She also stated in the interview that she speaks with Adria Biles, Simone's younger sister, more often than she does with Simone.
Shannon also explained the difficult reasons behind her decision to give up her children
“I wasn’t able to care for them. I was still using and my father [Ronald Biles] didn’t want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn’t right,” she stated.
Simone Biles and her younger sister, Adria Biles, were adopted by their maternal grandfather, Ronald, and his second wife, Nellie Biles, after the children were placed in foster care. Notably, Simone was only six years old at the time of her adoption.
Why couldn’t Shanon Biles take care of Simone Biles and her other kids?
Due to her struggles with alcoholism and drug addiction, Shanon Biles was often in and out of jail. Because of this, Simone, her younger sister Adria, her older sister Ashley, and her brother Tevin frequently had trouble eating enough throughout their early years.
When Shanon could no longer provide for the four children, they were placed in foster care. Simone and Adria were adopted by Ronald and Nellie. Ashley and Tevin, on the other hand, were adopted by Ronald's sister and their great-aunt, Harriet, who raised them in Cleveland, Ohio
Due to their shared upbringing, Simone and Adria have become extremely close. Notably, Simone is very protective of her younger sister. Adria also served as one of the bridesmaids in Simone’s wedding with NFL safety Jonathan Owens.
