"I don't know how viral it's gone" - Tara Davis-Woodhall opens up about viral video with husband Hunter Woodhall after winning gold at Paris Olympics
Tara Davis-Woodhall has reacted to the moment she shared with her husband after winning the women’s long jump gold medal. After learning that she had won, she ran to her husband Hunter Woodhall, who embraced her.
The video has gained reactions from fans across the globe. However, Davis-Woodhall disclosed that she has not been very active on social media and was hence unaware about the video going viral. In the video making rounds on social media, Davis-Woodhall can be seen running towards her husband Hunter, who embraces her and shouts:
"Babe, you’re the Olympic champion! You're the Olympic champion!"
In an interview with People, Davis-Woodhall said it was good "the world" got to see how her husband is her greatest cheerleader:
"I haven’t been on social media that much, so I don’t know how viral it’s gone. Everyone’s been telling me the whole world’s been seeing it, but that’s just Hunter and I. He’s my biggest supporter, and I guess the whole world got to see how much he supports me," Davis-Woodhall said.
Davis-Woodhall's husband Hunter now gears up for the Paralympic Games, where he will compete in the double-amputee category as a sprinter. The 2024 Paris Paralympics begin on August 28. She shared that the two will be back in Paris together in a few days:
"We’re going to go home for 13 days, pack it up, get some more training in for Hunter, and we’re gonna be back. The party continues. It doesn’t end here," Davis-Woodhall said.
"I’ve been telling everyone that, ‘Watch the Paralympics! It’s going to be a special show.’ Team USA is coming with a vengeance, and we’re going to dominate this year," she added.
Hunter Woodhall pens heartfelt message for wife Tara Davis-Woodhall after her first Olympic gold
Hunter Woodhall showered his wife Tara Davis-Woodhall with praise following her Olympic gold medal at the concluded Paris Olympic Games.
He shared a post on his Instagram page, lauding Davis-Woodhall for working hard and earning her place on the global stage:
"No words to describe how proud of you I am. No luck involved, you earned this. Discipline, work ethic, and grit. These are the moments and this is your moment. Soak it in ❤️," he said.
Meanwhile, the world long jump silver medallist claimed her first Olympic gold medal in the long jump. The 25-year-old had finished sixth at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
In the qualifying round, Davis-Woodhall leapt 6.90m to lead the qualifiers in Group A before throwing down the gauntlet in the final. She cleared 7.10m to claim the top honor, with Germany’s Malaika Mihambo taking silver after clearing 6.98m. Jasmine Moore of the USA rounded out the podium after clearing 6.96m.
