"I'm just the co-captain"- Tara Davis-Woodhall reacts as husband Hunter Woodhall claims he couldn't have won Paralympic gold medal without her support
Tara Davis-Woodhall was flattened as husband Hunter Woodhall wrote a heartfelt message to credit his wife for his impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The sprinter won the gold medal in the men's 400m T62 and secured bronze with USA's 4x100m mixed relay team.
Earlier at the Paris Olympics 2024, Hunter accompanied her wife to the Games and supported her through the competition. Tara easily managed to qualify for the long jump finals before going on to dominate them and win her maiden Olympic gold medal with a jump of 7.10m.
Nearly a month after she won her maiden Olympic gold medal, Hunter took the field in the 100m T62 finals but couldn't manage to get on the podium. He did it in the 400m T64 finals, winning his maiden Olympic gold medal after having amassed two bronze and one silver medal in his first two Olympic appearances. He would go on to secure another bronze medal, taking his overall Olympic medal tally to five medals.
Following the conclusion of the Games, Hunter Woodhall wrote a heartfelt message for his wife on Instagram, crediting her for believing in him and building him up.
"To my wife. I couldn’t do this alone. You built me up and kept me accountable. You believed in me, and helped me grow. You taught me how to enjoy the moment. You showed me how to be a competitor. We did it," Hunter Woodhall captioned the post.
Tara Davis-Woodhall also had sweet words for her husband, telling Hunter in the comment section that she loved him.
"I love you boobear," she said
She also commented that their success was teamwork and calling their relationship a ship, Tara referred to herself as the co-captain of it.
"You truly have no idea that you have they key to this ship. i’m just the co captain ✨," she added
Tara Davis-Woodhall was nervous about Hunter Woodhall’s 100m dash but excited for the 400m race
Tara Davis-Woodhall claimed that she was nervous while watching her husband Hunter Woodhall compete in the 100m finals in which he didn't win any medal. However, the Olympic champion added that she felt excitement when the Paralympic sprinter ran in the 400m T62 finals.
"When I was watching his 100, I got the craziest nerves of my life. I've never experienced those types of nerves before, but when he was riding the 400, I just had full excitement. I was hyped with the family and friends. But I'd rather compete, though. I'm not going to lie. I'd rather have all the power and control," she wrote (per Yahoo Sports)
Hunter ran a blistering 46.6s to win his maiden Olympic gold medal and immediately ran to his excited wife. The couple claimed that they had envisioned the moment of both of them winning the gold medal in 2024.
