"I might have four letters across my chest" - Jordan Chiles set to announce major career update after Paris Olympics 2024

Jordan Chiles said she has an announcement to make on August 6, 2024, with the Paris Games underway. After sweeping her first Olympic gold medal in the team competition, Chiles shared that she might return to UCLA and make an appearance at the 2028 LA Olympics.

Jordan Chiles, the 2022 World vault silver medalist, competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where she was part of the silver-winning team. In order to bring back the gold to the US, she entered the Paris Olympics for a 'redemption tour' with three of her Tokyo team members, Simone Biles, Suni Lee and Jade Carey.

With their combined effort, the US gymnastics women, dubbed 'Golden Girls', won the team finals with a score of 171.296. Soon after, Chiles issued an annoucement, dropping hints of her LA Olympics and UCLA return soon.

"I know floor is coming up. That's my main focus, but you never know. You never know. I might have the four letters [UCLA] across my chest. You might see me in '28'," Chiles said. (via Olympics.com)

Chiles is scheduled for the floor exercise at the 2024 Paris Olympics, slated for August 5 at the Bercy Arena.

"As of right now, I think my main focus is kind of just finishing floor because this is my first time ever being in an event final. I'm really excited about that. I just say stay tuned for August 6th. There might be an announcement for something," added Chiles.

Chiles enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles after her Tokyo Olympic stint. However, after sweeping the all-around silver and gold in the uneven bars and floor at the 2023 NCAA Championships, she put her studies on hold to focus on the 2024 Olympics.

Jordan Chiles contemplated her return to elite but her college coaches encouraged her

Chiles took a trip to Hawaii in 2023, which cleared the cleared the path ahead of her. Though she was initially in a dilemma whether to leave UCLA or not, her coaches encouraged her to compete in Paris.

"There was a lot of things that were going through my brain. At first, I was like, 'Do I want to do this? Do I not.' Only because I'd such an amazing NCAA season, I didn't want to leave my team...," she said. (via Olympics.com)

She added:

"But at the same time, you know, I had a lot of people telling me, like, 'You got this.' Like, 'Go for it'. Even [UCLA head coach] Janelle [McDonald] was telling me, she's like, 'No, you got this. We're going to be cheering you on. Your team is always going to be here.'”

The 23-year-old will look to win a second Olympic gold of her career on August 5, with her floor routine.
