"I am ready for more"- Masai Russell hints at starting preparations for the 2025 season

American 100m hurdler Masai Russell hinted at her return to track practice ahead of the 2024 track and field season. This comes just a few months after Russell concluded her 2024 season at the Athlos NYC.

Russell ended her season's track calendar with immense success under her belt. Not only did she clinch a prestigious Olympic gold laurel for her country, but also registered numerous podium finishes at events such as the US Indoor Nationals, Zurich, and Rome Diamond Leagues.

Despite this impressive season, Masai Russell is not going to take the back seat and has hinted at the start of her preparations for next season. Russell took to her Instagram handle to share a video comprising a few significant clips from her track career.

The 24-year-old stated in her caption that her season is set to start from next week, and mentioned that despite her notable performances this season, she is eager for a better campaign next year.

"The start the season starts next week… last year was great but I’m ready for more," Russell wrote.

Masai Russell will have some major events coming ahead of her next season including the World Championships and Diamond League. The 24-year-old's debut World event didn't go as planned in 2023 Budapest where she failed to reach the 100m hurdles finals. She is also yet to make an appearance in the finals of any Diamond League event.

Masai Russell recently opened up about the hardships associated with the sports of track and field.

In a recent episode of the Sports Xposure Podcast, Russell said that her profession is not as easy as it seems to the audience. She mentioned that track and field is an unpredictable profession that doesn't guarantee positive results every day.

"It's not easy, of course, as anybody could probably guess. I mean, they probably think it's easy just the way that I make it look, or a lot of entrepreneurs make it look. We just make it look like it's easy, but really, it's a lot. It’s a job that is every day, and you don't know what you're going to get in that day," she said (at 25:07).

During the podcast, Russell also mentioned the equation athletes maintain with sponsors that pushes them to perform even better.
