"I will be with you every step of the way" - Dominique Moceanu pens an inspiring message for her 15-year-old son in pursuit of LA Olympics 2028
Following the conclusion of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Dominique Moceanu penned an inspirational message for his son in pursuit of the 2028 Olympics. The American artistic gymnastics team clinched nine medals at the 2024 Paris Games, including three gold, one silver, and five bronze medals.
With the 2028 Summer Olympics flag passed to Los Angeles, Moceanu extended her support to her 15-year-old son Vincent Canales. Born in 2009, Canales began his gymnastics journey at just six months old, displaying his skills before he could even walk.
The young prodigy is trained by his mother and father Dr. Michael Canales, a former collegiate gymnast at the Dominique Moceanu Gymnastics Center in Medina, Ohio, where the family resides.
Vincent Canales is showing his prospects for competing at the 2028 LA Olympics. As an 11-year-old, the gymnast made an appearance on the American Ninja Warrior Junior. Canales earned his spot to appear in the show from the pool of 10,000 kids.
Passing the Olympics from Paris to Los Angeles, Moceanu drafted an encouraging message for her son who has set his sights on the 2028 Games.
"Son, the road to Olympic dreams is built on hard work & steadfast belief," Moceanu wrote. "Keep pushing forward, trusting that your dreams can become reality. With your father guiding you as coach and your relentless determination, I will be with you every step of the way.
"Together, we will turn the impossible into possible," she added.
"Athletes themselves are the ones who suffer the most" - Dominique Moceanu voices her view at Jordon Chiles' bronze medal foul-up at Paris Olympics
Dominique Moceanu recently voiced her opinion on the Jordon Chiles' bronze medal controversy at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chiles was placed fifth in the floor exercise at the 2024 Paris behind Romania's Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Moneca-Voinea. However, after issuing an inquiry, she was moved to third place. However, Romania's appeal to the CAS, costed Chiles the medal, citing the inquiry was issued four seconds after the stipulated time.
Moceanu, who clinched a gold medal with the "Magnificient Seven" at the 1996 Olympics stated that the controversies such as this affect the gymnasts due to mistakes made by the officials.
"The recent medal controversy at the Paris Olympics is an unfortunate situation that has taken an emotional toll on many gymnasts due to human errors," she wrote. "While controversies are not new to our sport, it's important to remember that the athletes themselves are the ones who suffer the most in these moments."
Moceanu is a celebrated figure in gymnastics, having won two world championship medals.
