Simone Biles opens up about her new outlook on gymnastics
Simone Biles recently unveiled her new outlook on gymnastics after having a self-realizing experience during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
"Gymnastics was everything to me. And it still is, but I just have a different outlook on it," said Biles. "Gymnastics is something that I do, but this is who I am outside of the sport. Rather than making it a whole blob."
She added:
"I still make gymnastics a priority. I get my work done and then say, 'OK, I have a wedding to go to because I know how important this teammate is to Jonathan. We can’t put life on hold or pause anymore."
Biles also suggested that all young women should speak up when something was wrong with their mental health.
"I hope young women take away that it's okay to not be okay," Simone Biles said. "You can speak up for what you believe, and you can do things alone. It's okay to kind of be shot down. Sometimes, it's how you get up and pick yourself back up and that women are strong alone."
Simone Biles will now be seen competing at the Paris Olympics alongside her teammates Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and Hezley Rivera.
