Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone stunned the world after a terrific performance at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in the 400m hurdles qualifying for her third consecutive Olympic Games. She spoke about lowering her world record below the 50-second barrier in a post-race interview and said:

"I mean, I would love to dip under 50 at some point. I don't know if that's this year or next year, whatever, but just always chipping away, seeing what's possible, and continuing.... There's so many different ways to run it, and I feel like everytime I'm on the track, I'm figuring out, 'OK, what's the best way?'"

McLaughlin-Levrone will be competing in a quest to continue her legacy in the event by defending her title. However, she faces challenges from Dutch athlete Femke Bol who has been in top form in the outdoor season and holds a personal best of 50.95s in the 400m hurdles.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone will kick start her Paris Olympic campaign in the women's 400m hurdles heats scheduled on August 4, 2024, at 12:35 p.m. (local time).
