"Little kids call me 'Mone'" - Simone Biles shares her nicknames ahead of Gold Over America Tour's first show

Simone Biles is all set to headline the second edition of the Gold Over America Tour after winning three gold medals at the Paris Olympics 2024. While practicing for the same, she shared her various nicknames in a candid conversation, adding that little kids called her 'Mone' because they couldn't pronounce it properly.

Biles started off her 2024 season at the U.S. Hydration Core Classic in May, winning the all-around with ease ahead of Jordan Chiles, Suni Lee, and other gymnasts. The 27-year-old went on to win her record-extending ninth all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in June, also sweeping the individual apparatuses as well.

She continued her dominance at the Olympic Trials, securing the direct qualification after being placed first. Biles led Team USA to reclaim their gold medal and then secured two more gold medals for herself in the all-around and vault disciplines. She placed second in the floor competition, ending her campaign with a silver medal.

Following the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles has been preparing for the highly anticipated Gold Over America Tour scheduled to start on September 16. Ahead of the first show of the tour in California, the 11-time Olympic medalist shared her various nicknames in a conversation with fellow gymnast Ian Gunther.

"Queen, S, and little kids call me 'Mone' because they usually can't pronounce my name,' she said.

Biles later added in the comments that 'Mo' was also one of her nicknames.

The majority of gymnasts are retired by the age of 27 but then there's Simone Biles who is just coming off winning four Olympic medals in Paris and is still not ready to hang up her shoes. Already the most decorated gymnast in history, Biles now also has the most Olympic medals won by an American gymnast.

Speaking after the Olympics, the 27-year-old said she was proud of herself for achieving her dreams.

"I've accomplished way more than my wildest dreams. Not just at this Olympics, but in the sport," Biles said (via Reuters)
"A couple of years ago, I didn't think I'd be back here at an Olympic Games. So competing and then walking away with four medals, I'm not mad about it. I'm pretty proud of myself," she added.

With four medals in Paris, Biles now has a combined number of 41 Olympic and World Championship medals, the most anyone has had in history. Such is her level of dominance that Larisa Latynina, who is the gymnast with the second-highest medal tally, only has 32.
