"Me and Jonathan Owens always talk about kids"-Simone Biles 'most definitely' wants to become a mother following record-breaking campaign in Olympics
Simone Biles opened up about starting a family with her husband, Jonathan Owens, following a record-breaking campaign in the ongoing Paris Olympics. Biles and Owens tied the knot on April 22, 2023.
The gymnast noted that she has had conversations with her husband about having kids, but it will only come after they achieve their career goals. She added that if Owens had had the opportunity, he would have had the kids as soon as yesterday.
The seven-time Olympic gold medalist added that being a mother is one of the things she is looking forward to.
"Yes, me and Jonathan always talk about kids, and he would have had them yesterday if he could have," Biles said in an interview with Hoda Kotb from Today. "Obviously, we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family. Yes, most definitely."
Meanwhile, as she chases career glory, Biles has laid a marker at the Paris Olympics, exiting the stage with three gold medals and a silver.
Simone Biles opened her campaign with a gold medal in the Women's Artistic Team All-Around before dominating the women's artistic individual all-around. She continued her winning streak with the vault routine, where she claimed the top honors.
She fell on the balance beam to narrowly miss a podium place after finishing fourth but redeemed herself with a silver in the women’s floor exercise, to sum up her Olympic campaign.
Simone Biles speaks on having Jonathan Owens watch her at Paris Olympics
Jonathan Owens was one of Simone Biles' greatest cheerleaders at the Paris Olympics.
It was the first time the Chicago Bears player was out to watch Simone Biles live on the Olympic stage. Speaking on the Today show, Biles revealed that Owens was more excited about pin trading than anything else.
Biles added that her husband would keep her scores and as she continued with her competition, he would know exactly where she stood.
"He was so excited. He was more excited to pin trade. He was loving the pin trading. I didn’t think he would, but I did warn him, like pin trading was really huge, and so he absolutely loved that,” Biles said.
"Obviously, he loved going to see me compete. He was still keeping score. It meant the world to him, because he’s seen the amount of hours that I put in, so to actually see in person, he was like, 'Wow, this is amazing.' And he was just so excited to be there," she added.
Jonathan Owens took time off training to watch his wife compete at the Paris Olympics and his efforts were worth it.
The Chicago Bears excused Owens from several training days, from July 29 to August 3 and he was scheduled to resume on August 4.
