Meet Alex Walsh, Gretchen Walsh's sister who cheered for the new 100m Olympic record holder at the Paris Olympics 2024
Alex Walsh, Tokyo 2020 Olympics silver medallist was recently seen cheering for her sister Gretchen Walsh as she broke the Women's 100m Butterfly semifinals. This came during the first semifinals of the event.
Gretchen Walsh registered a time of 55.38 seconds as she raced past the Olympic record to reach the finals of the event scheduled for Sunday (July 28). The 21-year-old was also very close to her personal best/world record in the 100m Butterfly event.
It was a very wholesome moment for Walsh as her elder sister, Alexandra Walsh watched her succeed on the grandest stage from the stands. Besides cheering for her sister, the 24-year-old Alex Walsh will also be in action in the coming days of the Paris Olympics in the 200m Individual medley event.

Walsh was born in Nashville, Tennessee on July 31, 2001, to Robert Walsh and Glynis Walsh. Both of her parents had been competitive swimmers during their college days and her mother also captained the Boston College Women's swimming team. She also has a younger sister, Gretchen Walsh who is also a competitive swimmer.

Hailing from Tennessee, Walsh completed her high school at Harpeth High School, after which she was admitted to the University of Virginia and competed for their women's swimming team- Virginia Cavaliers Swimming and Diving.
Alex Walsh Career Overview
Walsh has been one of the most formidable women's swimmers when it comes to the United States swimming circuit. She has represented the US in numerous global tournaments including the Olympics and World Championships.
During her junior career, Walsh had clinched two gold medals at the Pan Pacific Championships and a silver medal at the World Junior Championships. Following her senior debut, Walsh's first major impact came during the 2019 Lima Pan American Games in which she clinched three gold medals in the 200m backstroke, 200m medley, and 4x200m freestyle relays respectively.
Besides, Walsh has clinched numerous World championship medals both in the long course and short course events. She won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the 200m medley.
