Meet Dani Busboom Kelly: Everything you need to know about the former Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball player who led Louisville to NCAA final
Dani Busboom Kelly is a former indoor volleyball player and current head coach of Louisville Cardinal's women's volleyball team. Coach Busboom Kelly has been associated with the Cardinals as a head coach since 2017 after playing the assistant coach role in 2011.
Under Coach Busboom Kelly's guidance, the Cardinals secured a spot to vie for the national championship title in 2024. They defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers in the semifinal round in straight three sets. Although the Panthers led the first set 25-21, the Cardinals defeated the No.1 seed by besting them straight in the next three sets 25-23, 29-27, and 25-17.
Hailing from Cortland, Nebraska, headed the Husker's women's volleyball team from 2003-2006. Busboom Kelly commenced her coaching journey in 2009 after having undertaken the role of assistant coach at Tennessee for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. A year later, she spent the 2011 season with the Cardinals.
The 39-year-old then joined her previous playing squad, the Huskers, where she guided the team for five seasons. She joined the exclusive club, having won the Division I NCAA title as a player and a coach with Nebraska after the team clinched the 2015 National Championships title.

All through her remarkable coaching career, coach Dani Busboom Kelly achieved an even more distinguished path at Louisville, having collected multiple honors and accolades.
In her first season as the Cardinals' head coach, she was awarded the 2017 AVCA East Region Coach of the Year, which she later received three more times in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Her other laurels at the Cardinals include 2018 Coach USA Collegiate National Team, 2019 USA High-Performance Coach, 2020 ACC Coach of the Year, 2021 ACC Coach of the Year, 2021 AVCA National Coach of the Year, and 2022 AVCA Coach of the Year.
In 2021, coach Dani Busboom Kelly led the Cardinals to its best season ever, with a 32-1 record, winning straight 32 games and reaching their first No.1 ranking in history.
In 2022, coach Busboom Kelly led the Cardinals to another milestone Ranked No.2 and seeded No.2, the Louisville volleyball team reached its second consecutive final four.
Cardinals will face Penn State on Sunday, December 22, 2024, for the final round in the home arena at KFC YUM! Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Downtown Louisville, Kentucky.
