Meet Torri Huske, the Arlington swimmer who won first individual gold medal for United States at the Paris Olympics 2024
Torri Huske, the four-time World Championships gold medalist recently became the first United States athlete to clinch an individual gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. This came on Sunday during the 100m Butterfly finals.
The 21-year-old produced a scintillating performance during the event finals as she raced past the finishing line in 55.59 seconds. Even though Gretchen Walsh put up a strong fight in the finals, Huske managed to hold her off as she clinched a top podium finish on an Olympic stage for the first time in her career by a margin of 0.4 seconds.
Walsh clinched the silver medal in 55.63 seconds while the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist, Zhang Yufei settled for a bronze medal finish at the French capital.

Torri Huske's family
Huske was born in Arlington, Virginia on December 7, 2002. Her father's name is Jim Huske and her mother, Ying works at an IT company. It was her mother who introduced Huske to the world of swimming at a very tender age and also admitted her to the Arlington Aquatic Club when she was six years of age.
Torri Huske's education
Huske completed her high school in her native place, Arlington from Yorktown High School. Following her schooling, Huske was admitted to Stanford Univeristy. During her time at Stanford, she also competed for the Stanford Cardinals, the collegiate team of the university.
Torri Huske's other achievements
Across her career, Huske has scripted numerous majestic performances that have rewarded her with prestigious laurels. Besides, her first Olympic gold in Paris 2024 recently, the 21-year-old also had a silver medal in the Women's 4x100m medley relays that she won three years ago in Tokyo.
In the 2024 Paris Olympics, she won her second Olympic medal relay after the team of Huske, Kate Douglass, Gretchen Walsh, and Simone Manuel clinched the silver medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay registering a time of 3:30.20.
Besides the Olympics, Huske also has numerous World Championships medals including six gold medals in the short course events and four gold medals in the long course events. During her junior days, Huske clinched six gold medals at the World Junior Championships along with a silver medal.
