The men's gymnastics finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics are scheduled for July 29, 2024 at 5:30 PM at the Bercy Arena. China, Japan, Great Britain, Ukraine, USA, Italy, Switzerland and Canada are the eight teams that will compete.
China displayed its brilliance during the men’s artistic gymnastics team qualifications, topping the table with a combined 263.028 points. They collected scores of 41.432 on the floor, 43.199 on the pommel horse, 45.199 on rings, 43.499 on vault, 46.333 on parallel bars and 43.366 on horizontal bars.
China was ahead of Japan by a margin of 2.434 points, which scored a collective total of 260.594 points. However, Japan's men’s team maintained a significant gap with the third-placed Great Britain in the qualifications, who achieved 256.561 points. Great Britain was followed by Ukraine and the USA’s men’s gymnastics teams, who collected 253.893 and 253.229 points, respectively, with Italy, Switzerland and Canada occupying the sixth, seventh and eighth places.
Having already demonstrated their prowess in the qualifications, China’s gymnastics team has established itself as a formidable contender for the gold medal. However, Japan, the reigning world champions and Tokyo Olympics silver medalists, should not be overlooked. They are the most successful team in the event with seven gold medals but are expected to finish second. Great Britain is anticipated to secure the bronze medal.
For the fourth and fifth places, Ukraine and the USA are expected to retain their positions which they earned during qualifications. Switzerland and Italy are also expected to compete closely. Canada is projected to finish eighth in the men’s gymnastics finals at the Paris Olympics.
Gymnasts to watch out for in the men's gymnastics finals (team) at Paris Olympics 2024
During the men's gymnastics finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the eight nations' gymnasts will aim to deliver their best performances in order to contribute to their team in achieving podium finishes.
The 2021 world all-around champion and 2022 silver medalist Zhang Boheng and Xiao Ruoteng, a multiple Olympic and World Championships medalist, are two of the gymnasts from China to watch out for in the men's gymnastics finals. Boheng topped the qualifications, while Ruoteng came fourth.
Meanwhile, the reigning Olympic and World champion individual all-around Daiki Hashimoto from Japan shouldn’t be taken lightly since he has the potential to change the course of the event. Another Japanese athlete who can shine in the finals is Shinnosuke Oka.
A few more athletes to watch out for are Great Britain’s Jake Jarman and Joe Fraser, USA’s Fred Richard and Paul Juda, and Ukraine’s Oleg Verniaiev and Illia Kovtun, among others.
