Paris Olympics 2024 Medal Count Day 13: Updated tally as Team USA stands 1st after Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Tara Davis-Woodhall clinch gold
With only three days left for the Paris Olympics 2024 to conclude, Team USA is leading the medal tally with 103 medals. Day 13 witnessed Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shattering her world record in the women's 400m hurdles event.
The American team is followed by the Chinese and Australian squads with 73 and 45 medals, respectively. After the conclusion of Day 13, athletics dominates the medal tally for the USA with 27 medals surpassing swimming 28 medals. While swimming events have earned eight gold medals, athletics stands at the top with nine gold medals.
Gymnastics and cycling disciplines are following swimming with 10 and five medals, respectively. On day 13, the USA squad collected nine medals with three gold, silver, and bronze each. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone successfully defended her title at the 2024 Paris Olympics after clinching a gold medal in the women's 400m hurdles by clocking a whopping world record of 50.37 seconds. To achieve this feat, she defeated her fellow teammate Anna Cockrell and her formidable contender Femke Bol, who posted 51.87 and 52.15 seconds, respectively.
Grant Holloway topped the men's 110m hurdles to transform his Tokyo Olympics silver medal win into gold. He listed a stunning time of 12.99 seconds. He was followed by Daniel Roberts and Rasheed Broadbell, who finished the race with a photo-finish, recording 13.09 (0.85) and 13.09 (0.88) seconds, respectively.
Tara Davis-Woodhall secured a gold medal in the women's long jump after recording a decisive lead with a 7.10m jump. She surpassed Malaika Mihambo (6.98m) and fellow teammate Jasmine Moore (6.96m).
Kenny Bednarek clinched a silver medal in the men's 200m after following Letsile Tebogo. While Bednarek posted 19.62 seconds, Noah Lyles clocked 19.70 seconds to settle in third place. Sam Watson clinched a bronze medal in the men's speed sport climbing after following Veddriq Leonardo and Wu Peng.
