“Raygun made breakdancing popular" - Simone Biles reacts to the Australian viral meme during Paris Olympics
Simone Biles recently reacted to several memes that went viral during the Paris Olympics 2024. One of them was of the Australian breakdancer Rachael Louise Gunn, whose stage name is Raygun.
During an interview with Netflix for the already-released Season 2 of her docuseries 'Simone Biles Rising,' the American gymnast commented on various memes made on Olympians, including herself. The highlight of this interview was her reaction to the Australian breakdancer's meme, in which the clip of her dance moves was edited and pasted on a bed, creating a meme that read:
"Me trying to get comfortable every night in bed."
The 27-year-old gymnast reacted to this, saying (via Netflix on X):
"Raygun, girl. Raygun, girl. She made breakdancing popular. Everybody was watching you girl. Everyone that's at the Olympics is the best at their country in what they do, no matter we agree or not. So, go Raygun."
Following this, Simon Biles also reviewed a meme of her head-turn that went viral during the Paris Olympics. She said:
"Yeah, I am not really sure why this went viral, but people loved it. I truly have no idea because there were no cameras anywhere, but the guys were across from our warmup gym, so I truly think that they must have been going ballistic, and that's the reason why I turned. That's it, I have no explanation. I have no idea what that was, why I did it."
Simone Biles concluded her Paris Olympics campaign with four medals, of which three were gold and one was silver.
Simone Biles opens up about the celebrations after winning the first gold medal at the Paris Olympics
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Simone Biles recently spoke about how she and her team celebrated their first gold medal win at the Paris Olympics. The first gold won by the gymnast and her team was in the team all-around event, where they scored 171.296 points to stand atop the podium.
Biles said:
"I think honestly after Team final, we went to a restaurant across the street and it was just pure vibes like golden vibes. We were celebrating, having a good time, the waitresses were on tables doing towels, it was just like absolutely insane. It was like a proper celebration and I feel like we all deserve that and we'll never forget that memory."
After the Paris Olympics, Biles launched the second iteration of the Gold Over America Tour to celebrate all the Olympians. This year, male gymnasts were also a part of the tour, which started on September 16 at Oceanside. The tour has almost reached its end and has just one performance left in Detroit on November 3.
