Simone Biles breaks down navy athleisure leotard fits worn on GOAT Tour, says it was exciting to showcase their style off the mat
Simone Biles, the 11-time Olympic medalist, recently opened up on her collaboration with Athleta for a shiny navy athleisure leotard collection for her castmates on the Gold Over America Tour. Biles embarked on the tour with several teammates following her success at the Paris Olympics.
Following her campaign at the Paris Olympics, Biles, along with fellow gymnasts Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Hezly Rivera, Joscelyn Roberson, Fred Richard, and 12 others, embarked on the second edition of the Gold Over America Tour which aimed to inspire the next generation of gymnasts.
The tour kicked off on September 16 in Oceanside, California, and concluded on Sunday, October 3 in Detroit, Michigan. Biles teamed up with Athleta for the tour to showcase a new sparkly leotard collection for the participating gymnasts.
Reflecting on the collaboration, the Olympian stated (via Harper's Bazaar):
"We’ve always said we want to take the floor to the streets. Leotards were always our only way to express our style, but now it goes beyond that. A lot of us (pro gymnasts) are doing speaking engagements, Fashion Weeks, talk shows, all of the things—we don’t always just want to be known as athletes. So, we are getting to showcase our style off the mat, and it’s been really exciting."
The 27-year-old made her mark in her third Olympic Games this year in Paris and earned the title of the most decorated American Olympic gymnast, moving ahead of compatriot Shannon Miller.
Simone Biles medaled in four out of the six events she competed in, winning three gold medals in the team all-around, individual all-around, and vault events, along with a silver in the floor exercise. She narrowly missed out on gold in the latter to her Brazilian rival Rebeca Andrade by just 0.033 points.
"So much fun connecting, making memories that will last a lifetime" - Simone Biles reflects on her camaraderie with her castmates
In a follow-up conversation with Harper's Bazaar, Simone Biles shared her thoughts on the bond with her teammates on the Gold Over America Tour, mentioning that they had the same level of fun as they did at the Paris Olympics. She said:
"We’re having so much fun connecting, making memories that will last a lifetime, and cherishing what we did in Paris," she said. "And we’re so blessed to be selling out some of these arenas; I don’t think some of the cast realizes the impact they’ve made and will have on these kids in the crowd watching us."
Biles further shared her excitement about 2024 being an exceptional year for female athletes, particularly the Paris Olympics.
