"My life kind of revolves around football"- Simone Biles opens up on how supporting husband Jonathan Owens at Chicago Bears' games helps her unwind
Simone Biles recently opened up about how supporting her husband during Chicago Bears' NFL games is a form of unwinding for her. Following the end of the 2024 season, Biles has been busy attending Bears' fixtures as her husband, Owens, plays for the team as a safety.
Biles recently spoke about how her life now largely revolves around watching football as she attends her husband’s games. In an interview with Essence.com, the 27-year-old was asked how she planned to unwind and relax as the holidays were approaching. The 11-time Olympic medalist responded:
“For me, unwinding is not too much of a thing! I do have a couple of days off leading up [to the holidays], but nowadays, my life kind of revolves around football. So [Chicago Bears games are] when I get to unwind, have some fun, go support my husband and just learn more about football. So that’s kind of what it looks like these days.”
A few days ago, Simone Biles shared glimpses from the Bears’ game against the San Francisco 49ers on Instagram. She captioned the post to highlight the best friends she has made through football, adding:
“football 🫶🏾 swipe to see the besties football brought me”
In one of the pictures from the post, the renowned American gymnast was spotted enjoying the game with De'Vondre Campbell’s wife, Nicole, and retired volleyball player Torrie Brown. In a video she shared earlier on her stories, she was seen dancing with Fred Warner's wife, Sydney, in the skybox.
Simone Biles weighs in on who she thinks is a better athlete between herself and husband Jonathan Owens
Simone Biles shared her thoughts upon being asked about who she believed is the better athlete between herself and her husband, Jonathan Owens. On being asked the question at the ‘Back That Year Up With Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson’ in 2023 (via Peacock) TV show, she said:
“I think we're good at our own sports. We've tried to pin each other against, um, on like, difficulty, ability and all of that stuff. So at the end of the day, gymnastics is harder if he agrees or not.” (starting 2:54 onwards)
Following the remark, she shared how they used to argue about which sport was more difficult before they got married, but the debate still continues. Biles also mentioned how Owens struggled with her gymnastics workouts, whereas she did great when she attended NFL training. She added:
“We fought over it a couple times, and then we vowed once we got married, we wouldn't talk about it again. But it keeps coming up every time. But, uh, he has done my workout in the gym and he can barely do it. And then I went to their NFL workout, I crushed it.”
Putting aside the fun banter, it is worth noting that both Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens are a power couple, often supporting each other by attending each other's games. They also frequently share adorable glimpses of each other on social media.
