Simone Biles reacts to "Triple doubles don't define you" comment after announcing she'll not attempt the skill again

Simone Biles responded to a fan’s comment that triple-doubles don’t define her after she announced that she would no longer perform the skill. In 2019, Biles became the first-ever female gymnast to execute a triple-double in floor exercise, a feat she achieved at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

Recently, Biles announced on Threads that she wouldn't perform the skill again without giving any specific reason for the same. The 27-year-old wrote:

“The fact I’ll never do a triple double again 🥹”

Following Biles' remark, a fan expressed how impressive it was to witness her perform the skill. However, they added that the gymnast’s value extends far beyond her achievements in the sport like performing the triple-double on floor exercise. They also mentioned that she is an inspiration because of her personality. Replying to Biles’ Threads comment, they said:

“The fact we saw you do triple-doubles. But, you’re an inspiration for far more than that. Even without gymnastics, you are such an incredible human being and example to all. Triple doubles don’t define you.”

Simone Biles was touched by the fan’s response as she responded with heart emojis. She commented:

“🫶🏾🫶🏾”

Three months ago, the 23-time World Championships gold medalist bid farewell to another one of her signature skills, the Yurchenko double pike. She took to Instagram to make the announcement, writing:

“Rest in peace yurchenko double pike 🫶🏾”

Biles said goodbye to the skill in a way that garnered attention, similar to a funeral, with flowers all around.

Simone Biles addressed the reactions to being called the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. When Fallon asked whether she embraces the 'GOAT' title by casually acknowledging it, she spoke about the mixed reactions she received:

“Well, I think it's funny to play off, obviously, all of my fans and people have embraced, loved, and supported me throughout my journey, but also the haters, because there's always the comments like, ‘Stop calling her the GOAT. She's not the GOAT.’” (starting at 2:40)

While the 27-year-old acknowledged the love and support from her fans, she remained unbothered by the criticism, adding:

“So it's like it makes people happy [fans] and then it just pisses people off [haters]. Yeah. Bye, haters. Keep hating.”
