Simone Biles savors 'French pastries' freely at Paris Olympics in post Bela and Marta Karolyi era-"Give me 14 of them right now"
The four-time Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles, was recently seen eating French pastries during her off-time at the Olympic Village. This comes just a day before her qualification round on Sunday (July 28).
Pastries in France are considered one of the most famous snacks around the world and Biles seems to be loving them. The Ohio native also had a big slice of pizza a few days earlier in Paris with her teammate Suni Lee.
Biles took to her TikTok account to share a reel in which she is finishing off a French pastry. She added in the background audio:
"Spectacular. Give me 14 of them right now."
Gymnasts eating snacks at major tournaments, such as the Olympics, today are very different from the way it was when Bela and Marta Karolyi, former coaches of the US gymnastics national team, were in charge
Experiences shared by the former Olympic gold medalist, Aly Raisman, in an interview in 2017 said that she faced strict disciplinary issues during her time in 2010 with the national team after she was found savoring a slice of pizza.
Simone Biles is set to compete in the all-around competitions on Sunday
Simone Biles is all set to compete in the all-around competition during the qualifying round of gymnastics on Sunday. The 27-year-old already has an Olympic medal in the all-around apparatus to her name that she clinched in Rio during the 2016 Olympics and will be hungry to add more to her arsenal in the coming weeks.
In recent months too, Biles clinched all-around titles during the US Gymnastics Championships and then during the US Olympics Gymnastics Trials. Biles will be joined by two other Olympic medalists for the event at the Paris Olympics: Jordan Chiles and Suni Lee.
The 24-year-old Jade Carey will compete in two events, floor exercises and vaults, on Sunday. Carey has an extensive record on the floors and is also the reigning Olympic champion in the apparatus.
The fourth and youngest member of the team, Hezly Rivera, will also be competing in two events: uneven bars and beam balance, during the qualifying stages of gymnastics.
The 16-year-old gymnast put up impressive performances on the beam balance and tied for the first position in the apparatus during the US Olympics Gymnastics Trials.
