"Slander has consequence," "Two billionaires. I hope she wins big"- Fans react as Imane Khelif sues Elon Musk and J.K. Rowling over Paris Olympics row
Paris Olympics gold medalist Imane Khelif is pursuing legal action against Tesla and Space X founder Elon Musk, British author J.K. Rowling, and U.S. President Donald Trump. Fans have rallied behind Khelif after she drew intense criticism for her allegedly failed gender test reports that started circulating on social media during the Games.
The International Olympic Committee categorically rejected the results of Khelif's gender test as arbitrary, and stated that there were procedural inconsistencies. Khelif, therefore, was cleared to participate in the Paris Olympics.
After a 46-second triumphant bout with Angela Carini, Khelif was hit with criticism and was called 'transgender' by several popular personalities including Musk, Rowling, Riley Gaines and President Trump.
After staying put throughout her Olympic campaign and enduring intense harassment online, Khelif has now issued a lawsuit against "X," which under French law terms means that it is against unknown entities. However, according to Nabil Boudi, the Paris-based attorney of Khelif, the aforementioned famous celebrities are included.
Fans commended Khelif for her action, with one of them writing:
"Slander has consequences."
Another fan extended their support to the boxer and backed her while criticizing Musk and Rowling.
"Two billionaires…I hope she wins BIG!"
One of the fans backed the 25-year-old for confronting the situation.
"Wishing Imane Khelif the best in her fight against bullies who were bent on destroying her for nothing.."
Here are a few more reactions:
"Nice! I can’t stand bullies! Let this set more precedent for defamation," a fan said.
"Hope she wins this one and shows you can't push dangerous false info online because you're rich," another fan said.
"Good for her! What they’ve done to that woman is horrific," one of the fans said.

“I’m fully qualified to take part in this competition. I’m a woman like any other woman. I was born as a woman, I live as a woman, and I am qualified.”
