Suni Lee hints at her vote between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris as 24-year-old encourages fans to vote in the US Presidential elections
Olympic champion Suni Lee is making the most of her platform by encouraging fans to vote in the ongoing US Presidential elections. The gymnast also hinted that her support would lie with the Harris-Walz administration when she goes to vote.
Lee first rose to fame in 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics, when she stormed to the gold medal in the all-around. That made her the first Asian-American to achieve this feat. At the 2020 Olympics, the youngster also claimed a silver medal as part of the US team, as well as a bronze medal on the uneven bars.
After the Tokyo Games, Lee opted to compete in the collegiate circuit, with plans of making a comeback to the elite level in time for the Paris Olympics. At the 2024 Games, the gymnast won gold as part of Team USA, a bronze medal in the all-around, as well as another bronze on the uneven bars, despite dealing with kidney issues.
Now, Suni Lee is using the platform she has to encourage fans to vote, and hint at her support for the Harris-Walz administration. The American re-shared a post from Kamala Harris, and wrote,
“Vote, vote, vote!!! 💙💙💙”
Suni Lee joins SI Swimsuit team
For Suni Lee, the Paris Olympics was an opportunity at redemption. After being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease in early 2023, a return to the global stage looked unlikely for the 22-year-old. However, not only did she manage to make the team for the 2024 Games, she returned home with multiple medals.
Now, after her successful campaign at the Olympics, Lee is taking time to explore other avenues outside of gymnastics. She was recently signed by SI Swimsuit for their 2025 fold. With this, she joins fellow gymnast Olivia Dunne as well as Paris Olympics 200m champion Gabby Thomas in SI Swimsuit’s team.
Lee's debut photoshoot for SI Swimsuit stunned fans and athletes alike. The magazine shared pictures of Lee sporting a brown two-piece in Instagram, and many of Lee’s fellow athletes dropped by in the comments section to heap praise on the gymnast.
Dunne called the snap ‘so good’, tennis star Coco Gauff commented ‘yess’, while gymnast Trinity Thomas wrote ‘oh hi honeyyyyy’.
After the Paris Olympics, Suni Lee has moved to New York to pursue her interest in fashion. The American remains unsure if she will be returning to gymnastics for the 2028 LA Olympics.
