Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone opens up on dreamy gold medal-winning spree and having her family's support at the Paris Olympics
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone spoke up on her victorious run at the Paris Olympics and revealed how winning two gold medals at the quadrennial Games with the presence of her family was a dream come true moment for her. The American athlete successfully defended her 400m hurdles title and broke the world record for the sixth time to etch her name in the history books as one of the greatest athletes to compete in the event.
McLaughlin-Levrone competed in her third edition of the Olympics at the French capital after participating in a few track meets in the outdoor season and skipping the entire Indoor season of 2024 as she was recovering from a knee injury. The 25-year-old asserted her dominance in the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials where she clocked 50.65s to create a new world record.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone then marched onto the Paris Olympics as the defending champion in the 400m hurdles. She trounced the line-up to win the race with a world-record performance of 50.37s. Moreover, she won the gold as a part of the U.S. women's 4×400m relaysl team. The American athlete had her parents and her husband, Andre Levrone present in the stands to support and cheer for her.
She spoke about living her dream moment in the French capital with the unwavering support of her family.
" It's been awesome and I mean honestly, this is what every track athlete dreams about and so being able to compete and having my family there in the stands and being able to get the results that we did was honestly like a dream come true," she said in an interview with Kate Mackz in collaboration with Neutrogena.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone reflected on her journey from having a major setback in 2023 due to a knee injury that led her to withdraw from the World Athletics Championships to winning two gold medals at the Paris Olympics. The American athlete revealed how she was successful in persevering through tough times.
"Man, After last year, having to sit out due to injury, the mental build back to the world stage felt like a mountain of a climb. Yet as I reflect on the year, I’m so thankful for the ways in which God challenged every part of me to rely solely upon Him in some of the most grueling moments," the 25-year-old wrote.
"Some may look and wonder what challenges there could be just “playing a sport”, trust me they exist. Just like any profession, it takes dedication, preparation, perseverance, and belief. In it all, I will continue to do what I’ve always done, which is endeavor to improve. Use my platform to proclaim Christ, and redirect the glory back to God as much as I can," she added.
Furthermore, McLaughlin-Levrone expressed her excitement for upcoming opportunities as well as thanked her fans for their unwavering support throughout the year.
