Lindsey Vonn made an appearance at the Birds of Prey World Cup and skied downhill as a forerunner. The 40-year-old announced that she would be making her first World Cup appearance in nearly six years at St. Moritz, Switzerland, in the upcoming week. She took to Instagram to share her thoughts on being the forerunner at the Birds of the Prey World Cup, the same place where she had won the Super G in 2011.
"THANK YOU Beaver Creek!!!! What an incredible feeling to cross the finish line in front of such an amazing crowd! Friends, family, volunteers and so many people I’ve known over the years who came to support and cheer for me and the whole @usskiteam… thank you 🙏🏻," she wrote.
"If you couldn’t tell by my smile… I had SO much fun! The next step in this journey is complete and now it’s time to take this titanium knee to the next level and into a race. 💪🏻," she added.
Lindsey Vonn on her skiing in a World Cup circuit
Lindsey Vonn spoke about skiing on a World Cup Ski course for the first time in an interview at the Birds of Prey World Cup. The American Alpine skier expressed that it felt like a normal experience even though she was a little conservative during some turns.
Moreover, she revealed that she had a great time being with Team USA as well as getting into the rhythm of competing.
"It was really fun. It felt so normal. You know the first round of any new downhill, it is a little awkward and some turns I skied well, some turns I was a little bit conservative but it felt really good, I had such a good time and you know, inspecting with my teammates and kind of getting back to the rhythm everything felt as it should," she said.
Lindsey Vonn is set to take to the slopes next at the St. Moritz Alpine Ski World Cup in Switzerland scheduled on December 21, 2024.
