Tara Davis-Woodhall receives clock necklace honor as she praises Flavor Flav for supporting women's sports

Tara Davis-Woodhall recently met rapper Flavor Flav at Thundergong, a benefit concert. The duo posed for a picture together, with Davis-Woodhall sporting the rapper's trademark clock necklace, and Flavor Flav donning the long jumper’s Olympic medal. As she shared the photo with fans, the American heaped praise on the singer for his commitment to furthering opportunities for women's sports.

For Davis-Woodhall, 2024 has been an incredible year. She began her season competing indoors and was crowned the World Indoor Champion in March. From there, she went on to dominate the outdoor season, going unbeaten in the long jump.

At the Paris Olympics, the 25-year-old stormed to the gold medal, clearing a distance of 7.10m to finish ahead of Germany's Malaika Mihambo and teammate Jasmine Moore. A few weeks after her victory, Tara Davis-Woodhall returned to Paris to cheer for her husband, Hunter Woodhall, at the Paris Paralympics, who claimed the gold medal in the men's 400m T62 as well as a bronze in relay.

Recently, the track and field power couple attended the Thundergong benefit concert, which raises money for amputees in need. At the concert Davis-Woodhall met up with rapper Flavor Flav backstage, and shared a video of the meeting with fans on her Instagram story, writing,

“What a legend. An icon honestly. So thankful for everything you do for women's sport.”

Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall on their musical pre-competition routine

For Tara Davis-Woodhall and Hunter Woodhall, the Paris Olympics and Paralympics couldn't have turned out better. As both athletes claimed their maiden gold medals this year, they revealed that music plays an important role in their pre-competition routine.

Speaking to Olympics.com, Woodhall described the couple's hotel room on the morning of his 400m final, saying,

"We were playing music and just turning the place up, so the vibes were good. I think we just speak confidence into each other. We know how hard we've worked. We know we're prepared, so it's just telling each other, 'You can do it. You got this'.”

Davis-Woodhall first ran into her husband when they were high schoolers, as they bumped into each other at a track meet. The duo began dating in college, and have been together for six years now. They got married in December 2022 at the D'Vine Grace Vineyard in McKinney, Texas. After the Olympics, the couple moved from Arkansas to Kansas City to continue training with their coach Travis Geopfert.
