"This is not the end of the Olympic season"- Tara Davis-Woodhall urges support for the Paralympics and extends support for her husband Hunter Woodhall
Tara Davis-Woodhall announced that the Olympic season hasn't ended since her husband Hunter Woodhall will grace the 2024 Summer Paralympics stage in two weeks. Tara Davis-Woodhall jumped 7.10m to win the long jump gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Tara Davis-Woodhall, 25, set the state record in the long jump after leaping to a remarkable mark of 6.73m, breaking the 24-year-old record of Marion Jones. Davis-Woodhall competed in the 2023 World Championships and earned the silver with 6.91m. In 2024, her stellar performance at the World Indoor Championships earned her a gold for reaching 7.07m.
The 25-year-old competed at the 2024 Paris Olympics, aiming to clinch the first Olympic gold of her career. On leaping 7.10m, she made it to the pole podium, garnering fan love, especially from her husband and Paralympic athlete, Hunter Woodhall. The latter was ecstatic, waiting to embrace the Olympian with open arms. He screamed:
"Babe, you’re the Olympic champion!" he proudly screamed.
After her feat in Paris, the Olympic gold medalist announced her husband's appearance at the 2024 Summer Paralympics, scheduled from August 28 to September 8, 2024. In the X post of NBC Olympics & Paralympics, she put the world on notice in anticipation of her husband's 'crazy' feat at the Games.
"This is not the end of the Olympic season. We have the Paralympics in two weeks. Make sure you're watching. Hunter's gonna do something crazy."
Hunter Woodhall will first compete in the 100m T64 heats on September 1, 2024. On qualification, he will compete in the finals at the Stade de France, en route to his first Olympic gold medal. He will also compete in the men’s 400m T62 on September 6.
The three-time Olympic medalist announced on social media that he was leaving Paris only to return for the Paralympics.
"I’m leaving Paris. It has been a crazy two weeks. If you’re watching the Olympics and bummed that the Olympics are over, I’ve got great news for you. The Paralympics are coming up. I’ll be back in two weeks." (via World Para Athletics)
Hunter Woodhall arranged a sweet surprise for wife Tara Davis-Woodhall for her homecoming
Taking to his TikTok handle, the Paralympic athlete shared a video of him preparing for his wife's grand success party at Pizzeria Ruby in Arkansas, one of Tara David Woodhall's favorite restaurants.
"I made it home and we’re going to throw a surprise party for Tara," Hunter Woodhall voiced at the beginning of the video.
He was then seen picking up balloons and loading them into his car. The balloons were an assortment of red, white, and blue, signifying the US flag. The sprinkles of gold were in honor of his wife's first Olympic gold.
After decking up the restaurant, he went to bring Tara and her gold medal, 'Philippe' home. On the way to the Pizzeria Ruby, the Olympian was shocked to receive a welcome with fan cheers.
In the final clip, Tara Davis-Woodhall was confused about which to have, her Olympic medal or the plate of pasta in front of her.
