Trayvon Bromell pulls out of U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials 2024 with another untimely injury

Trayvon Bromell's career continues to be plagued by injuries, as the 2022 Diamond League champion has pulled out of the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Team Trials due to an adductor injury. This implies that the 28-year-old will not be able to compete in Paris for his third consecutive Olympics.

After missing the entirety of the 2023 season, Bromell kicked off his 2024 outdoor season at the East Coast Relays. He ended up placing third in a time of 10.135s, behind Andre De Grasse and Marcel Jacobs, who finished 1st and 2nd, respectively.

Bromell next competed in the 100-m event at the Meeting Citta Di Savona, where he limped towards the finish line in 10.87s. Halfway through the race, Bromell pulled up his thigh, and it has now been determined that the injury he had initially thought to be a muscle cramp was actually an adductor tear.

Speaking with Citius Mag, Trayvon Bromell's agent confirmed the withdrawal of the American sprinter from the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Team Trials 2024. He stated:

"Trayvon hurt his adductor in the race in Savona. He has been feeling it on and off since then. It has been bothering him in training this week so unfortunately he won’t be ready for the Trials. We hope he will be back competing in a few weeks," his agent revealed.

Bromell is the defending champion in the 100-m event at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Back in 2020, he was pitted as one of the favorites to win a medal at the Tokyo Olympics. However, he couldn't advance to the finals. Earlier at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the 28-year-old was carted off the track with a torn Achilles in the 4x100m relay finals.

Trayvon Bromell has suffered more injuries than the number of Olympic and World Championship medals he has won. However, he believes his time is yet to arrive, and that he is currently being tested by God.

After his agent announced his withdrawal from the Olympic Team Trials, Bromell took to Instagram to say that he was being tested by life. Despite that, the 28-year-old expressed gratitude to God for giving him strength in the face of adversity.

"We will all be tested in life. Grateful God continues to give me the strength to fight. I will not give up!" he expressed.
