Gabby Thomas opened up about winning the 200m at the Paris Olympics

A few days after clinching the 200m gold at the Paris Olympics, Gabby Thomas appeared on 'The Daily Show' to discuss her triumph. She shared how she prepared herself to win the 200m race, and candidly revealed her unwavering belief in securing the gold.

"Truthfully, I had been envisioning myself winning that race over and over again the entire time that I was in Paris," Thomas said. "So in my head, when I got to the starting blocks, I had already won the race. I believed that I was the Olympic Champion. But, the true moment that I realized that I had won was coming off the curve."

She added:

"Anyone who watches my track career knows that I finish my races strongly and the last 100m is my bread and butter. So if I can come off the first 100m ahead, I kind of, I know that I have won the race."

Thomas became the first American athlete to win three gold medals in a single edition of the Olympics, after Allyson Felix at the 2012 London Olympics.
