Top 5 USA gymnasts with the most Olympic medals ft. Simone Biles

Simone Biles, the standout star of the American gymnastics contingent, has topped the list of the USA women's gymnasts with the most Olympic medals. Having amassed an impressive collection of medals from the Olympics as well as the world championships, Biles is on the pinnacle of the sport.

The American gymnast has held on to her place as the most successful gymnast with her impressive form. On that note, let's look at the top USA women's gymnasts with the most Olympic medals.

#1 Simone Biles has eight Olympic medals under her belt

With her recent feat at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Simone Biles is the American gymnast with the most Olympic medals, amounting to eight. At the 2024 Games, she has secured a gold medal along with her team, including Hezly Rivera, Suni Lee Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey.

Three years ago, at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Simone Biles secured a silver medal in the team and a bronze medal in the balance beam events. The 27-year-old enjoyed a successful run at the 2016 Games, clinching gold with the team and also the top prize in all the individual events except the balance beam and uneven bars.


#2 Shannon Miller stands in second place with seven Olympic medals

Shannon Miller secured seven Olympic medals from two editions of the Olympics - the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Games. After enjoying a great run at the 1992 Games with two silver and three bronze medals, Miller returned to the Olympic stage at the 1996 Games and won two gold medals.

In Atlanta, she led the widely known "Magnificient Seven" to glory. The Missouri-born gymnast also secured a gold medal in the balance beam event, becoming the first American to do so.


#3 Aly Raisman stands third in the list of USA women's gymnasts with the most Olympic medals

Aly Raisman stands behind Shannon Miller with six Olympic medals - 3 gold, two silver, and one bronze. She was a part of both "The Fierce Five" and the "The Final Five" teams.

With "The Fierce Five," she secured a gold in the team event. Raisman went on to collect a gold medal in the floor exercise and a bronze medal in the balance beam.

During the 2016 Rio Games, she contributed to the team's gold medal and secured a silver in the all-around. Raisman also bagged a silver medal in floor exercise at the 2012 Games.


#4 Nastia Liukin secured five Olympic medals in a single edition

Nastia Liukin has five Olympic medals to her name, all of which she secured at the same Olympics. She achieved this feat at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Liukin, whose parents were coaches and allowed her to hang out in the gym from the age of three, first collected a gold medal in the individual all-around event. She further gathered three silver medals - in the team, uneven bars, and balance beam. She also took home a bronze medal from the same Olympics.

The former Olympian bid adieu to the beloved sport after falling short of earning a spot for the 2012 London Olympics.


#5 Mary Lou Retton

Lou Retton achieved this haul at the 1984 Olympics, with one gold in all-around, one silver each in team and vault, and bronze medals in uneven and floor exercises. To honor her incredible feat, she was featured on the Wheaties box.
