"Usain Bolt was spamming golds"; "Get cheetah out there"- Fans divided as Noah Lyles takes a dig at Tyreek Hill's challenge to a race
Noah Lyles snapped back at Miami Dolphins' WR Tyreek Hill claiming that his title of the 'fastest man' didn't come easy. Fans were left divided after Lyles responded to Hill, who recently proposed a 50-yard race against him.
After Lyles won the 100m gold and 200m bronze at the Paris Olympics, Hill claimed he would beat him, displeased with his controversial 'world champions' comment from 2023.
"I'm not going to beat him by a lot, but I would beat Noah Lyles," he said in Up & Above podcast.
Next, in The Nightcap podcast, the 100m reigning Olympic champion alleged the Cheetah was 'chasing clouts'. The latter took to his X to share how determined he was to race the World champion.
"Sign the contract and lock in that 50 yard race …"
Amid the back-and-forth, Lyles snapped back at the football player when an ESPN interviewer asked whether he would take the challenge seriously.
"In terms of, you know, running a race, you got to be serious. Everybody wants to jump up to the top right. Everybody wants to jump into the everybody wants to race the fastest man. I didn't grab this title because it's easy or because I went the easy route."
The statement left the track and football fans divided with some taking a jab at Lyles for his Olympic setback and 'fastest man' claim, while some hailing him for his success.
One fan sided with Lyles and said:
"He’s right. He’s the 100 meter champion"
Expressing excitement over the match-up, another fan wrote:
"Get cheetah out there"
Another fan referred to Usain Bolt and joked about Lyles being the 'fastest man'.
"Fastest man but couldn’t win gold in the Olympics, Bolt was spamming golds"
Taking a dig at his 200m loss at the Paris Olympics, a fan said:
"Didn't you just lose like 2 months ago?"
Another fan wished the Miami Dolphins wide receiver to take the track, given the quarterback situation in Miami after Tua Tagovailova suffered a concussion.
"Tyreek might as well run track now. He got no QB."
One fan was unable to register the reason behind people hating on Lyles and wrote:
"Why everyone hate on Lyle’s it’s so corny"
Noah Lyles on Tyreek Hill - "You can’t just jump the line because you’re a great football player"
The six-time World gold medalist agreed to race Hill but only under his conditions. He further called out the football player for being ambitious in the track world when he already holds a name in the football world.
"I mean, if somebody wants to sponsor the event and we’re racing for millions of dollars and it’s on a track and we’re running 100 meters, then sure, we can race," Noah Lyles said to NBC.
He added:
"You’re racing against a guy who has worked his whole life to get the title of ‘the world’s fastest man,’ and you’ve worked to be a great football player. You can’t just jump the line because you’re a great football player."
Hill has a track background, having run the 100-meter dash in 9.98s at the 2013 NJCAA Championships. He also achieved the honor of All-American in college.
